New Jersey Redevelopment Authority
The New Jersey Redevelopment Authority (NJRA) is a comprehensive state financing authority committed to revitalizing urban communities across New Jersey. Created by the New Jersey Urban Redevelopment Act in 1996, the agency functions as a key partner for municipalities, developers, and non-profit organizations. Investment and Financing Programs
The NJRA offers a suite of financing products designed to jumpstart projects that might otherwise stall due to lack of capital. These programs target various stages of the redevelopment process.
- Pre-Development Loan Fund: Provides seed capital for feasibility studies, architectural costs, and environmental remediation.
- Redevelopment Investment Fund: Offers flexible long-term financing for commercial and mixed-use projects.
- Tax-Exempt Bonds: Facilitates low-cost financing for qualified capital projects, including educational and healthcare facilities.
- Urban Site Acquisition (USA) Program: Assists in the acquisition of properties to assemble sites for future development.
Redevelopment Training Institute
Beyond financing, the authority operates the Redevelopment Training Institute (RTI). This educational arm offers intensive workshops and certification programs for real estate professionals, municipal officials, and community leaders. The curriculum covers essential topics such as project finance, planning law, and tax incentives, empowering stakeholders with the knowledge to execute successful redevelopment strategies.
Location and Access
The NJRA offices are situated near the New Jersey State House. Visitors attending meetings or training sessions generally require an appointment. As a state government facility, the building maintains security protocols, including identification checks upon entry.
