University of Vermont (UVM) Police Services is a fully sworn, nationally accredited law enforcement agency dedicated to the safety and well-being of the university community. Located at 284 East Avenue on the UVM campus, the department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing comprehensive police coverage not only to the campus but also possessing statewide authority. The agency prides itself on a community-centric approach, blending traditional enforcement with education, harm reduction, and restorative justice practices. Officers are highly trained in areas such as crisis intervention, bias-free policing, and sexual assault investigation, ensuring a professional and empathetic response to the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff.

- Civil Fingerprinting: Fingerprinting services are available by appointment for employment or licensing requirements (note: cashless payment via Cat$cratch only).
- Criminal Investigations: A dedicated detective bureau handles serious crimes and complex investigations, often collaborating with local and state agencies.
- CatAlert System: Management of the campus-wide emergency notification system to alert the community of immediate threats or closures.
Location and Access
The police station is located at the intersection of East Avenue and Carrigan Drive. While emergency services are available at any time by calling 911 or 802-656-3473, the administrative lobby for records requests, lost and found, or fingerprinting is open during standard business hours. The facility is accessible and serves as a ”safe haven” for anyone in distress. Visitors should note that while there is some visitor parking, the area is primarily regulated by campus parking enforcement.
