The GSA is responsible for acquiring space, maintaining federal properties, and providing workspaces for other federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
- Facility Management: Overseeing the operations, maintenance, and security of federal buildings in the Western Pennsylvania region.
- Federal Acquisition: Managing procurement and contracts for goods and services used by government agencies.
- Asset Disposal: Handling the sale or repurposing of surplus federal real estate and equipment.
Moorhead Federal Building
Located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, the Moorhead Federal Building is a major hub of federal activity. The GSA office here ensures that the facility meets the needs of its tenant agencies and the public they serve. The building is designed to be energy efficient and secure. Please note that this office primarily handles administrative and property management functions and does not typically offer direct public walk-in services for things like passports or benefits, which are handled by their respective tenant agencies. 🇺🇸🏢🔐
Building Security
As a federal facility, security is tight. All visitors and employees must pass through airport-style security screening, including metal detectors and x-ray machines for bags. Valid government-issued photo identification (Real ID compliant) is strictly required for entry. Weapons, explosives, and other hazardous materials are prohibited.
