PA CareerLink® Downtown Pittsburgh
Comprehensive Job Seeker Services
PA CareerLink® Pittsburgh – Downtown Office is a comprehensive ”one-stop” shop designed to assist job seekers and employers in the Allegheny County region. Located on Penn Avenue, this facility functions as a partnership between the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry and local workforce development boards. It provides a wide array of free services to the public, aiming to remove barriers to employment. Whether a visitor is looking for their first job, transitioning careers, or re-entering the workforce after a layoff, the professional staff offers personalized guidance and resources.
- Career Resource Center (CRC): A public computer lab where individuals can search for jobs, create resumes, and file online applications with staff assistance.
- Workshops and Training: Regularly scheduled classes on resume writing, interviewing skills, digital literacy, and soft skills development.
- Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR): On-site assistance for individuals with disabilities seeking to obtain or maintain employment.
- Veterans Services: Dedicated representatives (LVER/DVOP) provide priority service and specialized career planning for military veterans.
- Unemployment Compensation (UC): While staff do not process claims directly, the center provides dedicated courtesy telephones for direct access to the UC Service Centers.
Employer and Business Services
Beyond helping job seekers, the Downtown office serves local businesses by offering recruitment assistance, pre-screening of candidates, and information on tax credits and on-the-job training (OJT) grants. The facility frequently hosts recruitment events and job fairs where employers can interview candidates on the spot. Visitors should note that while walk-ins are welcome for the resource center, specific programs like WIOA training grants may require an orientation appointment.
