City Event Permitting and Coordination
The Office of Film and Event Management (OFEM), formerly known as the Special Events Office, is located in the City-County Building in downtown Pittsburgh. This department serves as the central clearinghouse for all special event permitting within the city limits. It is responsible for processing applications for block parties, parades, community festivals, and commercial film productions. The office works closely with public safety, public works, and other city departments to ensure that events are conducted safely and with minimal disruption to the community.
- Event Permitting: Reviews and issues permits for public gatherings, races, concerts, and neighborhood block parties.
- Film Office: Coordinates logistics and permits for movie, television, and commercial filming on city property.
- Logistical Support: Liaises with police, fire, and EMS to arrange necessary safety services for large-scale events.
- Community Affairs: Manages the city’s involvement in major civic celebrations and cultural festivals.
Organizers planning any event on public property must consult with this office to navigate the regulatory requirements and secure necessary approvals.
