Overview
Protecting the Far Northeast
The Philadelphia Police Department – 7th District is responsible for law enforcement and public safety in the Far Northeast section of the city. Covering approximately 13.5 square miles, it is one of the largest districts by area in Philadelphia. The district serves several major residential neighborhoods, including Bustleton, Somerton, and Byberry. Its jurisdiction extends from Rhawn Street in the south to the county line in the north, and from Roosevelt Boulevard to Pine Road.
Community and Operations
Operating out of the municipal building at the corner of Bustleton Avenue and Bowler Street, the 7th District focuses on maintaining a safe environment for families and businesses. The area is characterized by quiet residential streets, shopping centers, and significant green spaces, including a large portion of Pennypack Park. The district works closely with the 7th Police District Advisory Council (PDAC) to address quality-of-life issues and foster strong relationships between officers and the community.
Station Services
The district headquarters is a 24/7 operational facility. Residents can visit the station at any time to access essential police services, such as:
- Filing Reports: Submitting official reports for crimes, accidents, or missing persons.
- Public Safety: Reporting hazardous conditions, abandoned vehicles, or neighborhood nuisances.
- Victim Support: Connecting victims of crime with assistance and resources.
- Medication Drop-off: Many districts offer safe disposal boxes for expired or unused prescription medications (check availability).
Visitor Information
Visitors to the 7th District station should be aware of standard security protocols. Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited inside the building unless authorized for law enforcement personnel. Security screening may be required upon entry. For non-emergency inquiries, residents are encouraged to call the district’s front desk. For all life-threatening emergencies, dial 911 immediately.
Location and Transit
The station is located at 1701 Bowler Street, just off the busy corridor of Bustleton Avenue. It is well-served by public transportation, making it accessible for residents without vehicles. SEPTA Bus Route 58 stops directly at the intersection of Bustleton and Bowler, providing a vital link to the Frankford Transportation Center and Neshaminy Mall. Route 67 also operates nearby along Verree Road.
